Actions for the week of February 27, 2017:
  • Call  844-241-1141 to demand that a special prosecutor be appointed to investigate Trump’s associates’ relationships with Russia. You’ll be connected with an automated system set up by the progressive group Daily Action. After a brief message, they will connect you with one of the GOP members of the Judiciary Committee, and you’ll be asked to leave a voicemail message. This call should be made no later than Tuesday, February 28.
  1. Check out the Resistance Calendar (https://www.resistancecalendar.org/). Once you enter your town or city, a listing of actions (mostly demonstrations and rallies) will appear. If your town has nothing planned for the near future, a listing of events closest to you will appear.
  2. Call your representative to protest Trump’s reversal on protections for transgender students (https://m.facebook.com/YourDailyAction/posts/391627231202597)
  3. Stand in support of immigrants (https://www.indivisibleguide.com/resources-2/2017/2/22/response-to-immigration-raids-and-other-attacks-against-immigrants-and-refugees)
  4. Participate in ACLU’s March 11 Nationwide Resistance Training (https://go.peoplepower.org/signup/join/?source=em20170226)

To find the phone number for your representatives:

Listing of Congresspeople. Just enter your zip code, and you’ll be directed to the name and contact for your Congressperson: http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/
And for a laugh (because you have to laugh sometimes!), watch Stephen Colbert take on Trump’s claim of a terrorist attack in Sweden that never actually happened: http://www.cbs.com/shows/the-late-show-with-stephen-colbert/video/8EB85971-929F-01F0-CBD4-5E3EC1FF375D/never-fjorget-what-happened-in-sweden/

There were some real victories last week, as Republican representatives heeded the pressure from your postcards, letters, emails, phone calls, and town hall visits.
  • Rep. Darrell Issa (R) of California has called into an investigation of Trump’s ties with Russia
  • Rep. Matt Gaetz (R) of Florida agreed that Trump should release his tax returns
