John Hartley, coordinator of Neighborhoods for Fair Elections and president of the Uptown Democratic Club.
Ron Marcus, director of public outreach for the San Diego Chapter of the Brady Campaign to prevent gun violence.
Former city councilman John Hartley will make a brief presentation on the new campaign finance reform effort for San Diego by the Neighborhoods for Fair Elections group. Neighborhoods for Fair Elections is a non-partisan organization fighting for the empowerment of San Diego neighborhoods and residents through small donor public funding of elections.
Ron Marcus is the director of public outreach for the San Diego Chapter of the Brady Campaign to prevent gun violence. We will hear about the Brady Campaign in general and specifically the San Diego City Council resolution to join other cities in opposing Concealed Carry Reciprocity bill (HR 38) that is heading for a vote in the Congress. HR 38 would allow anyone with a State ID and permit from a concealed carry state (like Arizona) to carry anywhere in the country regardless of the laws in the state you are physically in, like California. That result would essentially nullify all of our state regulations on gun laws.
